Tae Kwon Doe sparringMARTIAL ARTS

Tae Kwon Do instructor 7th degree Grand Master Rick Blair has more than 30 years of teaching experience. Designed to increase cardio-respiratory fitness, reduce stress, improve flexibility and develop the mind, body and spirit. Classes are focused on the individual needs of each student, with a “let’s-do-it-together” philosophy.

Description: Designed to increase cardio-respiratory fitness, reduce stress, improve flexibility and develop the mind, body and spirit. Classes are focused on the individual needs of each student, with a “let’s-do-it-together” philosophy.

Fees: Members/$32 month; $10 each additional family member; $50 family cap

LITTLE KICKS TAE KWON DO return to top 
Ages: 4 to 6 years
Sessions: Mondays, 6 - 6:45 pm

Description: Little Kicks introduces children to the fundamental principles and discipline of martial arts. Class instruction will cover the basic skills of blocks, kicks and jabs as well as other self-defense techniques. In addition to martial arts, Little Kicks will teach character development and the core values of the YMCA: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Description: The ancient art of Tai Chi uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today’s busy lifestyles and improve health. Find out how to get started. Tai Chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. To do Tai Chi, you perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Class suitable for all levels.

WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE return to top

Description:
This introduction to self-defense and awareness is a two-hour course that examines potential dangers women face in everyday life. Emphasis is placed on trying to avoid these types of situations, as well as how to handle oneself should the need arise. Finally, a very basic review of self-defense techniques is practiced to assist in escaping dangerous environments.
