The YMCA of Harrison County
provides fun, engaging, safe and effective fitness programs
for people with special needs to
help promote overall health, fitness and wellness. Strength and coordination help
people with special needs
develop physically and socially in a friendly and encouraging
setting.

Description: Our special needs classes provide a gentle, caring instructor who is committed to serving the fitness and social needs of special populations. Classes vary, but the goal of providing health and fitness never changes.

Ages: Open to children and young
adults ages 3-21 with special needs.
Sessions: Days & Times TBA
Description: Unique programming for community members
with intellectual and physical disabilities. The Special Needs
Outreach Program is designed to help those with special needs grow
stronger in spirit, mind and body. All abilities welcome (one-on-one
support is not provided).

| WATER EXERCISE FOR YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS | return to top |
Sessions: Saturdays, 12:00 - 12:30 pm, Ongoing
Where: Therapy Pool
Description: Trained personnel will guide children in this recreational group activity, designed to help improve their sense of well-being. Though not a clinical program, physical benefits such as increased muscle strength, improved coordination, endurance and ability to perform daily tasks may result. Note: participants 13 years and older are welcome to join the adult water aerobics class or try adult open swim.
Policies: An attendant must accompany all participants, at no extra charge.
