


COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This Course will encompass the training needed to become certified as a “PADI OPEN WATER DIVER. PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world. With this certification, you will have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional.
Instructor: Karen York is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (#190578). She has been teaching high school science for over 15 years. She initiated a course in Ocean Science (one of the very few in the state) at Corydon Central High School. Her enthusiasm for learning is contagious.
Not only does she teach safe diving practices, but consideration of aquatic life and reef conservation is paramount.
COURSE CERTIFICATION:
To be certified you must complete the course, score 75% or better on all quizzes and written tests and pass 20 scuba skills in a practical skills test. Certification may also include the instructor’s subjective judgment about the maturity, attitude and classroom participation demonstrated during the
course. The course consists of the following:
1 = Classroom Orientation Day
4 = Pool Dives (Achieved in 3 days)
4 = Open Water Dives (2 days) on a consecutive Saturday & Sunday.
COURSE PRE-REQUISITES:

At least 14 years old by the last day of the scheduled course. Parental Consent is required for those under 18. Note: Future Sessions, minimum age will be 10 years old for Junior Divers.
