Yoga is perfect for
any age. It is not a
gender specific
exercise and you do
not have to be
flexible to start.
Classes are setup
for beginners and
experienced students
alike. Students are
advised to wear
loose fitting and
comfortable
clothing.
WHAT IS YOGA?
Developed in India,
Yoga is a
psycho-physical
discipline with
roots going back
about 5,000 years.
Today, most Yoga
practices in the
West focuses on the
physical postures
called “asanas,”
breathing exercises
called “pranayama,”
and meditation.
What
Yoga can do for you…
Yoga is good for
what ails you.
Specifically,
research shows that
yoga helps manage or
control anxiety,
arthritis, asthma,
back pain, blood
pressure, carpal
tunnel syndrome,
chronic fatigue,
depression,
diabetes, epilepsy,
headaches, heart
disease, multiple
sclerosis, stress
and other conditions
and diseases. What’s
more, yoga:

Students
should dress
comfortably
in
non-binding
clothing and
bring a
yoga/sticky
mat and a
densely
woven cotton
or wool
blanket to
class.

fully
benefit from
your yoga
class. Yoga
classes meet
in the
Shireman
Studio
and are
taught by
Pam Bell.
She has been
practicing
and studying
yoga for 6
years and
has been
teaching for
3 years.
Committed to
her own
personal
practice,
Pam
continues to
study with
her own
teacher as
well as
attending
several
workshops
each year
with
internationally
recognized
yoga
teachers.
She will
complete a
Yoga
Alliance
recognized
200-hour
teacher
training
course this
summer.

This class
is suitable
for all
levels. A
“passive,”
albeit
intense,
practice
that focuses
on deep
stretching
of the
connective
tissues,
especially
in the hips,
legs and
spine. Long
holds with
relaxed
muscles
encourages
opening and
increased
flexibility
in these
areas. Props
(bolsters,
blocks,
blankets)
are used to
allow the
muscles to
relax.

focuses on
strength,
balance and
flexibility.
It is a
vinyasa (or
“flow”)
class
utilizing
sun
salutations
to build
heat in the
body and
provide flow
between
postures.
Have fun
while being
challenged.
This is a
vigorous,
sweaty
practice.
