YOUTH SWIM LESSONS

2008

The YMCA began teaching swim lessons over 110 years ago and today is recognized as a leader in aquatic instruction.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

YMCA of Harrison County is proud to offer swim lessons for people 6 months old & up.  Teaching methods are designed to help develop each participant to his/her fullest potential, to encourage awareness of safety and to master skills to the best of their ability.

*YMCA Open Doors Policy applies to all Sessions.

*Class Make-up Policy: Only make-up classes that have been cancelled due to conditions beyond the instructors control will be rescheduled (Example: weather or pool issues).

Parent-Tot Swim Lessons

(Ages 6 months – 3 years)

Therapy Pool

Saturdays 10:45am to 11:15am

Both parent and child jump into these lessons. The goal is to earn your child’s trust in a fun and structured setting. Children 6 – 24 months must wear swim diapers. This is an "introduction to water" class.  We will be teaching the parents to teach their child.  This class is not a series class, join at anytime.  Pay per visit on Saturdays that swim lessons are being taught.  See Saturday Preschool Lessons for dates.

Y Members/$5 per class (pay per visit)

Non-members/$7 per class (pay per visit)

Preschool Swim Lessons

(Ages 3 - 5  years)

Therapy Pool

Your preschooler will build swimming skills in an appropriate learning group. As students progress through Pike, Eel, Ray and Starfish classes, they will become comfortable in the water, learn to kick, float and swim the length of the pool on front and back using rhythmic breathing and over-arm recovery.
