Here at the Y, we want all of our community members to be safe. We implement policies to ensure our members and guests that they get the most use out of our facility and programs. Review some of our policies below:

  • 12 and older, Cardio and Cybex areas only after obtaining a YouthFit Certification.
  • 12 - 15, need to obtain YouthFit Certification and be accompanied by someone 18 years old to use free-weight area.
  • Under 12, accompanied by someone 18 years old and written doctor’s note, Cardio and Cybex areas only.
Gym

GYM

  • Between 10-13, someone must be 18 yrs old & in the building.
  • Under 10, accompanied by someone 18 years old or with an organized Y Program.
Track

WALKING TRACK

  • Under 12, accompanied by someone 18 years old or with an organized Y program.
  • Strollers permitted at any time.
  • Please be courteous to others and use caution.
  • 12 laps equals one mile.

TRACK ETIQUETTE
We hope that all members and persons who use the track extend respect to others. Remember that there are 3 lanes available on the track; a walking lane (the inside lane), a jogging lane (the middle lane) and a passing lane (the outside lane). Please watch and be courteous to people who need to pass.

Pool

POOL

  • 14 years & older accompanied by someone 18 years old in the facility.
  • 8-13 years old must be accompanied by someone 18 years old on the pool deck within eye line.
  • Under 8 accompanied by someone 18 years old in the pool with them.
  • 16 & under may be asked to complete a swim test as identified by the attending guard. Swimmers may be asked to wear a life jacket and/or be within reach of someone 18 years old in the shallow end of the pool.

POOL RULES

  • No food, gum or drink, except bottled water is allowed in the pool areas.
  • Walk slowly on pool deck.
  • Do not enter the pool unless a YMCA of Harrison County lifeguard is present.
  • Diaper dependent individuals will wear appropriate swim diapers or rubber pants.
  • U.S. Coast guard approved Personal Flotation Devices are allowed, and provided on the pool deck.
  • Please shower before entering the pool.
  • Diving is permitted only in the deep end as indicated on the pool deck.
  • Lap swimmers should circle swim and share lanes. Each lane can accommodate six swimmers.
  • Kick boards are for lap swimming only.
  • Street shoes are only allowed on deck on the outside of deck drain. Aqua shoes are permitted in the pool.
  • Swim test to be allowed to swim in deep water; a person must be able to swim from the shallow end of the pool, out to the safety line and back without stopping. The lifeguard has the discretion to test and restrict any individual who may be a safety risk.
Locker Room/Lockers

LOCKER ROOMS AND LOCKERS
Children over age 2 should use the proper gender locker room or the family/special needs locker room. This allows for privacy in the gender specific locker rooms. The family/special needs locker rooms are larger, private locker rooms. Cell phone usage is prohibited in the locker rooms and restrooms.

The use of lockers and locks is encouraged but locks MUST be removed daily. For full-time locker use, monthly or yearly locker rental is available to members for a fee of $10 a month or $100 a year. Please inquire at the Service Desk for more information regarding locker rental. The YMCA of Harrison County is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items. Locks that remain on lockers overnight will be cut off and contents will be kept for one month before being discarded.

Program Refunds

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY
If the Y cancels a class/program before the start date, all fees will be refunded in full. In the event that a class/program is cancelled by the Y after it has begun, the amount refunded will be pro-rated. Participants withdrawing from programs will receive refunds based on the following policies:

If cancellation occurs in writing before the start date of the class/program:
– 100% credit or refund (participant’s choice) for amounts paid minus program deposits, administrative, supply or uniform fees, if applicable.
– For classes/programs with recurring weekly/monthly fees, bank or credit card drafts will be stopped.

Cancellation any day after the start date of the program:
– At the discretion of the Program Director.
– Medical/special circumstance after the start date will be at the branch’s discretion, with a written request. Additional documentation may be required.

Data Collection On Our Members

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Websites, including information:

• By which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number, or any other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline (“personal information”);

• That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as information about your internet connection, the equipment you use to access the Websites and usage details.

Personal Information
You do not have to provide personal information to use our Website.  However, particular services provided through the Website require that you furnish personal information.  We collect personal information only when you provide it to us, for example, in registering for camps; pledging support through our annual campaign; registering information about membership or volunteering at the YMCA of Harrison County; purchasing items from our online store; and when taking part in promotional opportunities or registering for general information on programs and services.  You may be asked to provide your contact information (such as your name, address, telephone numbers, and/or email address), and demographic information (such as your zip code, location, or age) in connection with your use of such service.

Contact information is used to respond to your inquiries; to notify you in connection with your request for services; register you for programs or services; include you in our communications to members; or contact you with regards to your inquiries from our Website.  You also may receive periodic mailings (direct or via email) about our services, updates to our Website, or upcoming events.  You may opt out of having your contact information as part of our mailing list at any time. To opt out of any YMCA communications, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any YMCA email or send an email to contactus@ymcaharrison.org.

Other Information
We use IP addresses to calculate website usage levels, to gather broad demographic information, and to monitor the level of activity on our site.  Whenever you are on the Internet, a number (an IP address) is automatically assigned to your computer.  This number is identified and logged automatically whenever you visit our Website.  Collecting IP addresses is standard practice on the Internet, and is done automatically by most websites.

Disclosure of Information
We may also disclose personal information, if we believe that we are required to do so by law, to comply with legal process or governmental requests, to enforce the YMCA Code of Conduct, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the YMCA, its users, or the public.

Privacy Policy

The personally identifiable information that the YMCA collects from you when you pledge your support to the YMCA of Harrison County includes: your name, address, email, phone number, and credit card information, when you provide it.  The information is used to provide you with a receipt for your gift and to bill your credit card when applicable.  We use commercially reasonable efforts to maintain the integrity of all information collected.

In order to improve our services to you, we may ask some of our customers to voluntarily complete surveys, which may be collected by an independent third party.  Individual survey answers are confidential, although non-personally identifiable information is collected and may be disclosed to third parties.  If you do not wish to participate in a survey, simply decline to participate when asked.

The YMCA offers free newsletters and promotional emails as a service to our customers.  The YMCA will send you newsletters and e-mails periodically listing current specials and deals.  To stop receiving our newsletter, send an e-mail to us at contactus@ymcaharrison.org.

If you contact the YMCA or our customer service representatives by telephone, email or letter, we may keep a record of your correspondence or comments.  If you report a problem with our Website, we may collect such information in a file specific to you.  If you contact us through our feedback area or by calling one of our customer service representatives, we may ask for your name, e-mail address and other information in order to send you a reply.

We do not currently display advertisements on our site.  However, should we at some point decide to allow advertising on our Website, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect that change.  The YMCA expressly reserves the right to track customers’ traffic patterns throughout their online session, including which pages, information and advertisements a customer views while using the site.  We may use your IP address to diagnose problems with our servers, software, to administer our site, and to gather demographic information.  We may share aggregated statistics about pages viewed on our site.

We do not sell, trade, or license your information to others without your consent.  If a customer does not pay us for services ordered, we may submit their account information to a third party collection agency.  Except as otherwise stated in this Policy, without your consent, the YMCA does not disclose its customers’ personally identifiable information to other merchants.

The information collected by or for the YMCA may be provided to an outside company for the purpose of analysis.  This analysis is to help us to improve our Website, services selection, and to notify you of special offers that may be of interest to you.  That data analysis agent may not share any personal information with others, or use it for any other purpose than to help the YMCA.  We utilize third party vendors to track cookies’ identification numbers and internal website tracking features to create statistics about our customers and visitors, traffic patterns, and related site information.

We encourage you to check and promptly update your information if it changes at your home branch.  You may ask to have the information on your account deleted or removed; however, because we keep track of past purchases, you cannot delete information associated with past purchases. Also, as a security measure we “back up” the data stored on our systems, and such prior information cannot be completely removed from our databases.  As a result, you should not expect that all personal information will be completely removed from our backed-up databases.

Children Under the Age of 13
You must be at least 13-years-old to have our permission to use this site.  Our policy is that we do not knowingly collect, use or disclose personal information about visitors under 13 years of age.  Users between the ages of 13 and 17 have our permission to browse our Website, however these users cannot order services or participate in any offers on the Website, or disclose any personally identifiable information without the contemporaneous consent of a parent or guardian.  If you are the parent or guardian of a minor under 18 years of age and believe that they have disclosed personally identifiable information to us, please call 812.734.0770.

When you use our Website we store cookies on your computer in order to facilitate your use of our Website.  A cookie is a small text file, which a website stores on your computer’s hard drive (if your browser setting permits) that can later be retrieved to identify you to the YMCA and customize your experience.  The cookies make your use of the site easier, make the site run more smoothly, and help us to maintain a secure site.

Code of Conduct

YMCA of Harrison County Code of Conduct

For the safety and welfare of all participants and as a reflection of our Christian mission, we at the Young Men’s Christian Association of Harrison County, Indiana (“YMCA”) request that all staff, employees, volunteers, members, participants, guests, and program participants follow our YMCA Code of Conduct at each of our facilities, program locations, and sites. This ensures the highest respect and courtesy toward one another, as well as guarantees the proper use, maintenance, and care of YMCA property and equipment. The use of the YMCA is a privilege which can be suspended or revoked at any time for violating this Code of Conduct. While our Code of Conduct prohibits certain actions, this is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of behaviors considered inappropriate in our facilities or when participating in our programs.

 

  • Inappropriate behavior of a physical or sexual nature including lewd behavior, any sexual contact, sexually explicit language, and/or unwanted advances within any area of the YMCA is strictly prohibited.
  • Harassment including of a verbal, physical, or sexual nature is unlawful and prohibited. It is a serious act of misconduct and is subject to immediate suspension or termination of privileges.
  • Verbally abusive behavior, intimidation by words, gestures, or body language, profanity, fighting, shouting, arguing, and any type of intimidation or menacing behavior are not acceptable and considered inappropriate behavior at the YMCA.
  • Lack of respect to staff, volunteers, or other members is not acceptable and will result in suspension or termination of membership and program privileges.
  • Use of chewing tobacco, smoking, vaping, or consuming alcoholic beverages on YMCA property or at any YMCA activity or program site is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of illegal drugs or substances is not acceptable and is strictly prohibited.
  • Removal or destruction of YMCA property or the property of others without their prior consent constitutes theft of property and is strictly prohibited.
  • Unauthorized entrance into the facility by way of illegal use of a pass, sneaking in, refusing to present photo ID upon entry, or aiding and abetting unauthorized entry, is prohibited.
  • Loitering and soliciting are not permitted in or outside the YMCA building.
  • The possession, carrying, or concealing of any weapon or any device or object that may be used as a weapon by any person is prohibited in any of our facilities, program locations, and sites. Certified and sworn municipal, state, or federal law enforcement officers who carry proper identification and are on duty are exempt from this policy.
  • The use of cell phones or devices with photo and video capabilities are strictly prohibited in the locker rooms and restrooms. No unauthorized photos or videos of others is allowed anywhere in the facility.
  • The YMCA is a family association and asks that members wear family appropriate attire such as appropriate sports clothing. Clothing with profane or offensive language or pictures is prohibited. The YMCA reserves the right to define inappropriate dress when necessary.
  • Individuals who have been convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, or is presently under the influence of dangerous drugs, narcotics, or intoxicating beverages are not allowed on YMCA property.

REPORT ANY VIOLATION OF THIS CODE OF CONDUCT TO YOUR YMCA STAFF.

YMCA Code of Conduct
The staff of the YMCA reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of behavior to ensure compatibility with the YMCA mission and Code of Conduct. Reported incidents will be promptly investigated and addressed.

Behavior that is contrary to our mission and core values or in violation of this Code of Conduct may result in either suspension or termination of an individual’s participation, membership, and/or visiting privileges.

Facility Usage Guidelines For Children With Memberships

To ensure the safety of all members and guests, the YMCA has enacted the following Youth Access facility usage guidelines:

• All youth members and guests under age 14 have the opportunity to utilize any area of the YMCA as long as they meet that area’s age guidelines and are accompanied in the building or facilities by a responsible adult that is 18 years of age or older, who has an active membership or pays the daily guest fee.
